The Cisco User Defined Network (UDN) application provides a robust solution for IT departments looking to empower end-users with control over their own wireless network partitions within a shared environment. This application enables users to securely and remotely deploy their devices, ensuring both device security and connectivity management.
Device Registration: The Cisco UDN app facilitates the registration of devices prior to their introduction into the organizational network. Users can utilize multiple methods for device registration:
- Manual Entry: Users can manually input device details such as type, name, and MAC address.
- Scan Image for MAC Addresses: An option is available to scan MAC addresses from an image directly on the manual entry page.
- Scan MAC Addresses Using a Camera: Users can also scan MAC addresses using the camera feature on their device during the manual entry process.
Device Sharing: The Cisco UDN application enhances collaboration by allowing users to share their connected devices with other users within the same organization. The invitation process is as follows:
- Search Users: Users can search for colleagues to invite them to join their User Defined Network segment.
- Invite Users: The app allows users to select and invite multiple colleagues simultaneously.
- Invite Notification: Those invited will receive a notification with options to accept or decline the invitation.
- Acceptance of Invite: Upon acceptance, the user will be presented with a list of available registered devices to share on the invitee’s network.
- Declining Invite: If a user chooses to decline, a notification will be sent back to the original invitee.
